Shankar Dev Campus

Shanker Dev Campus (SDC) was established on 1951 A.D. as Nepal National College which was housed temporarily at Durbar High School and then at Tri-Chandra College in Kathmandu. The name of the college was changed in 1973 A.D. to Shanker Dev Campus following the government policy of amalgamating it into Tribhuvan University and recognizing Professor Shanker Dev Pant’s contributions, mainly motivated by his missionary zeal, towards purchasing a site and erecting a building for the college.

SDC is one of the main affiliated campuses of Tribhuvan University which is wholly credited for the college’s bachelor and master degree programs in business studies. The college is known and characterized by its initial days in the field of management professional expertise, quality education and discipline, SDC has become an outstanding campus for business studies in the country today. Predictably, the management and business students who graduate from SDC make up around 25% of the total number of MBS students in Nepal. Due to this fact and the renowned quality education provided by Shanker Dev Campus, the enrollment rates are rising each year far beyond its capacity.

The college has dedicated itself to raising the standard of higher education in the country, and despite being located at a busy city center area, the college has a favorable environment, developing professional skills and enhancing lifetime quest for acquisition of knowledge and ideas.

Facilities

The buildings of SDC are centrally located along a very busy side road, between the Tukucha river and Putalisadak in Kathmandu metropolis. Surprisingly however, the college has a tranquil environment where management students can study in peace without disturbances. The campus planning has been annually followed since 1973 A.D. and several wings have been added to the original structure on separate occasions.

Currently, all buildings that are being used provide ample space for academic, administrative and financial divisions, a teachers’ room, academic departments, a library, a computer lab, a multi-purpose hall, classrooms, a student union, and various other sections within the premises. Besides this, for artistic purposes, the college also has a beautiful fountain. As for extra-curricular activities, students can play basketball or volleyball in the college court. There are shops all around the college area that serve delicious and healthy food at affordable prices. Moreover, the college also has a library with various books and study resources where the students can browse to their hearts content.
